Observation Home

An observation home is established and maintained in every district or group of districts by a State Government, either by itself, or through a voluntary or non-governmental organisation. Observation homes are registered for the purposes specified in sub-section (1) of section 47 of the JJ Act (2015). If the children in conflict with law are not released on bail, and are placed in Observation Home by the order of the Juvenile Justice Board, the Observation homes are responsible for the process of rehabilitation and social integration of these children. The JJBs have the power to transfer the children in conflict with law to Special Home or Place of Safety or Fit facility or with a Fit person other than releasing them on bail or sending them to Observation Homes.
